What is this all about ?
Welcome on the blog of the EreputationCamp. As a Barcamp is basically about sharing, we wanted to open our event to anyone. In that sense, you will discover the wonderful world of the E-Reputation and a presentation of the Barcamp. For those of you who are already aware of this new trend, consider this page as an appetizer because we will post video and script's reports of the brilliant (lets hope so...) reflexions of the EreputationCamp !
E-Reputation
Explanation
As well as in real life where one is described by his physical, social, professional attributes, web 2.0 has introduced the concept of online identity. Based on specific Internet-based tools, the principles are the same: How to define an entity (oneself or a brand), based on its actions?
Once the data is collected, everyone is able to have its own judgment on this entity. Hence is created the reputation.
Before, this reputation was linked to different local communities we would be part of. These communities are now available online, where the limits and accessibility are worldwide. Anyone can then forge its own picture of a persona. This is the e-reputation. It’s not limited in any way, and is fed by everyday traces left on the web.
In a corporate world, a company’s challenge will not only be limited to advertise itself, but also to be nicely presented. Indeed, some bloggers have such a large audience, that a buzz can lead to an outrage. The unique flow of advertising will be outpaced by the larger flow of multiples messages spread around, focused and also highly reactive. Processes like forecasting, alerts and monitoring are needed to stay on top of what’s happening online.
Questions arise regarding those phenomenons:
- Where and based on what is made my E-Reputation?
- How to control and develop it? What for?
- Which channels that I don’t control build that reputation?

Barcamp
Principles
The term Barcamp was officially patented by a company named basically. It means open debate. Debate is the particularity that defines the Barcamp: This is not a conference in the way that it’s not presented by anyone in particular. There is no entitled leader; the Barcamp goes along naturally. This introduces the second term, open. The audience is participating.
Hence everyone is invited to speak out, bringing in opinions, asking questions, anything to drive the debate. The audience is not only composed of experts. On the contrary, diversity is encouraged (notably by the free nature of the event).
Actually the Barcamp is an initiative based on intellectual curiosity, during which everyone should find its own interest. Newcomers will learn from the experts; the latter will make up their mind from the contribution and the questions of the audience. The main goal will be to answer together the multiple questions brought in at the start of the event.
Our event
The subject of the Barcamp presented is: E-Réputation. As written previously, this is a large subject, This leads to a number of questions on our societies, such as identity and communities. This event full of sharing thoughts will take place here:
SATURDAY, APRIL 4th
From 12.30PM to 9.00PM
@ La Cantine
151 Rue de Montmartre (Passage des Panoramas)
75002 – Paris
Program
Despite being free in its form, such a meeting requires a complete organization up front, so everything goes smoothly on the day of the event. Tools are provided for that intention:
- This actual blog.
- a wiki: EreputationCamp
- a Facebook group: E-Reputation
La cantine has different rooms, so we will be able to host different workshops simultaneously. A workshop is defined as a theme (example: How long until we have a numeric passport?), a start and end time. The time frame is important because it enables planification of different workshops throughout the day in every room. Knowing those parameters, each attendant will be free to participate to the workshop of his choice.
As written earlier, topics will be decided the same day, collectively. However, to limit the time taken to achieve this first step, tools are already available online, which you can modify. We welcome any contribution at this time. The Barcamp is heading towards those four topics :
- Personal Branding: How to promote yourself like a brand?
- E-Réputation for a company: What shows up about a company.
- Entreprise 2.0 : Employees’ E-Réputation inside the company, the Intranet. Effects?
- Profile certification: By whom? How?
A number of topics and ideas have already been submitted online. More than an organization issue, this part is also for the participant to be prepared for the day of the Barcamp.
Finally, a Twitter workshop is planned, as an introduction to the service. This phenomenon is growing fast, as a communication tool. It seems essential to introduce that service to the ones that are not aware yet. They will then learn about some tools available for this service.
Special features
Be aware that the goal is not only to listen to different experts, but also to participate. Everyone is supposed to take part in the debate, by asking questions, sharing any point of view to level the quality of the conference. To support the movement, a virtual currency will be put in place, « TwollarsCamp », which will aim to show support and reward everyone’s intervention.
More than just a symbolic reward, attendants will be able to use them as Twollars on Twitter. Moreover, it will enable a follow-up on the Barcamp’s Blog. It will be possible to trade them for an enhance visibility on www.e-reputation.tv.
Note: A hot meal will be served to each attendant. This break during the event will serve as a way to meet each others, and thus improve the atmosphere during the workshop.
Finally, a T-shirt will be offered to each one of the attendants at the entrance.
